It’s already 2017, but next Sunday, 8 January, you can return to the 16th century, participating in a traditional milling in one of Campo de Criptana’s windmills, which Miguel de Cervantes made famous in his masterwork Don Quixote.
Next Sunday Campo de Criptanas ‘Land of Giants’ – Tierra de Gigantes – is venue of a Cervantine morning when one of the mills, Molino Burleta, will grind flour in tradicional way: With machinery similar to that used in the 16th century.
According to the weather forecast, it will be a sunny though chilly morning during which visitors and neighbours can enjoy to the full this magnificent place that is the Sierra de los Molinos, the hill of the windmill, that has been declared a Historic Site. During the grinding, the Association ‘Hidalgos Amigos de los Molinos’ (Knights-Friends of the Mills) will also stage some passages of Cervantes Don Quixote and offer a free tasting of two tapas.
But since it is winter and it will be cold, we recommend you to visit our restaurant La Cueva La Martina, located in the same Sierra de los Molinos and where you can enjoy the best La Mancha cuisine in a warm, welcoming and cosy atmosphere.
Do not miss this opportunity, we’ll be happy to welcome you in Campo de Criptana – Land of Giants and traditional cuisine!
Happy New Year!
